Study for academic credit or Continuing Professional Development E-Learning Global Health Self Paced Open Access Health systems strengthening through a new model for global learning This site has been established by the People's Open Access Education Initiative (Peoples-uni) to help build workforce capacity through Open Online Courses, available free for self-study. They are available free and can be accessed by anyone. Most offer a certificate. Course development has been coordinated by Professor Dick Heller , some have been developed by partner organisations. We aim to go beyond hosting these courses, and intend to work with partners to create a systematic process for high quality, bespoke, lifelong learning. Global learning A new model for global learning envisages: education moving from local to global; professionals needing to be lifelong learners; progressive implementation of learning; and educational innovation utilising opportunities offered by the Internet, Open Educational Resources and volunteers. The Programme will support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals and promote Universal Health Coverage , as well as contributing to global workforce demands . Accessing Courses Click on Log in at the top right of the screen and if you do not already have an account you will be guided through creating an account - which you can do yourself. A Username and a password will be assigned to you, and once you have these (or if you have previously been sent one by the Administrator) you can log in whenever you want. When you click on the course categories, you will be taken to a course list - just click on Course and you can enrol yourself if it is available. You do not need to log in to see a brief description of the available courses, just click on Brief description of available courses. Rationale Peoples-uni , with its for-credit courses, this site for Open Online Courses, and future developments in partnership with others, is contributing to a new model for global learning, where: Education is moving from local to global; Professionals need to be lifelong learners; There is progressive implementation of learning; and Innovative educational providers utilise the opportunities offered by the Internet, Open Educational Resources and volunteers. Global learning will contribute to helping meet and promote Universal Health Coverage , as well as contributing to global workforce demands .
